Dear families,

If you are close to the Tacoma, WA neighbor hood, check out the Moon Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Tacoma Chinese Reconciliation Park.

The Moon Festival is a popular Asian celebration of abundance and togetherness dating back over 3,000 years to China’s Zhou Dynasty. At the Festival, there will be entertainment featuring stories musical presentations, and cultural highlights with a focus on the Chinese moon legends. There will also be moon cakes, vendors and many kid-friendly activities.

This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to celebrate one of the biggest Chinese festivals, emerge yourself in the Asian culture, and enjoy fascinating performances. Many cultures of China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam will be represented through various activities taking place through out the celebration. Get your Chinese name in calligraphy, lion dance, martial arts and dance performances, tea ceremony, and dragon boat  just to name a few. The lantern parade led by the Moon Princess taking place at night is especially anticipated by everyone.

Bring your family and enjoy a great weekend in Tacoma.
